Playroom Dreams

We are currently building a new house, and my parents are hosting us for about 6 months until it can be finished.

Our new house has much more space than we’ve ever had before. Chris and I lived in a condo for a hot minute when we first got married, upgraded to a townhouse when I was pregnant with Isaiah, and now we’re building a real stand-alone home!

It gives me goosebumps to think about how we’re going to raise our babies in this home. This is where we will create family traditions. Isaiah and Josephine will memorize this address when they start going to school. They will play in this yard, trick-or-treat on this street. My hopes and dreams for this little home feel so huge and far away, but they are very attainable, and right around the corner. We are just a few short weeks away from welcoming our baby girl into our family, and then a few weeks after that away from moving our babies into the home that will shape and mold their entire childhood.

We sold virtually all of our furniture in our last move. We wanted to start fresh with a new color scheme, and save money on storage. So we’re in the process of designing the interior of our new home right now. Each week I have a new room that I start dreaming about and online shopping for. My big one right now is the kids’ playroom.

We are going to have this bonus room right outside of the babies’ rooms and bathroom upstairs. We went back and forth with what to do with this room, and we finally decided that it was really important to use that they have a free space to play, but that didn’t stress us out by cluttering up our living areas. This room is going to be the playroom for this phase of our family’s life. Small kids should have a place to create, imagine, dream, play…without mom and dad nagging at them to clean up multiple times a day. I would much rather allow them to free play all day long, and have one time a day that we clean up before bed (because it is important to me that they clean up after themselves).

I can’t get this little room out of my head. Below are a few of the sweet little pieces I’ve chosen for my babies {non-affiliate links included}. I can’t wait to make this room a reality for my little munchkins!

Do you have a playroom for your kiddos? What are you favorite places to shop? What storage or organization systems do you use? Advice welcome!!
